Watermark is a valuable addition to our Word Document.
Watermark is a Text or an Image behind the document in a transparent mode. We can use it for security purpose into our document or give a short info about our document. It is very useful when we share our document in our Blog with our blog web address as a watermark, some user or other who sees our document watermark may be leads to the traffic to our Blog or website.
Steps to add a watermark to Word document:
For Microsoft Word 97/2000/XP (2002)/2003:
- Open the New or Existing Word document that we want to insert watermark.
- Select “Format” from the top menu, then selects “Background“, then “Printed Watermark“.
- In the “Printed Watermark” dialog
1. Steps to create Text Watermark:
- Select the “Text watermark“.
- Then, we can select a pre-defined text from the drop-down, or type our text on the “Text” field.
- There are more options to customize our watermark such as text size, text colour, etc.,
- Then click “OK“.
- We can see the text that entered in Text field as a Watermark.
2. Steps to create an image watermark:
- Select the “Picture watermark“.
- Then click on the button “Select Picture”
- Navigate to the directory where our watermark picture is located. Select it and click “Insert“.
- Then click “OK“.
- We can see the image that we selected is inserted into our document as a watermark.
For Microsoft Word 2007/2010:
- Open the New or Existing Word document that we want to insert watermark.
- Select the “Page Layout” Tab from the top menu, then “Page Background” -> “Watermark“.
- Then, we can now select one of the pre-defined watermarks,
- Or, if we wish to use our own text or image, select “Custom Watermark” at the bottom.
At the “Printed Watermark” dialog:

- Then, either select a pre-defined text from the drop-down, or type in our desire text on the “Text” field.
- There are more options to customize our watermark such as text size, text colour, etc.,
- Then click “OK“.
- We can see the text that entered in Text field as a Watermark.
